Our custodians & community are under threat of profit seeking companies taking over custodial operations in Hillsborough County Public Schools!!
Privatization attempts don’t usually end up saving money, and the strain on working families when hours & benefits are cut in an effort to show cost savings, can lead to further costs down the road for other agencies in Hillsborough County, such as unemployment benefits, health-care cost, etc.
Will the safety of our children be compromised?
Low-wage, low-benefit jobs encourage frequent turnover. Will an outside company make sure that all the people coming in and out of our schools be fully vetted for security reasons?
Doesn’t it make more sense for our community to hire & keep our long term employees who develop a sense of pride in, and loyalty to, our schools?
PLEASE JOIN EMPLOYEES, FAMILIES & CONCERNED COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO DEMAND OUR SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS ADDRESS THE SOCIAL COST OF PRIVATIZATION, SUCH AS THE SAFETY OF OUR STUDENTS AND THE POTENTIAL FOR SEVERE ECONOMIC HARM TO A GROUP OF EMPLOYEES WHO AVERAGE $24,000 PER YEAR IN SALARY!
Night shift custodians can demonstrate at the ROSSAC building from 9-11am.
There is a wide time frame for any employee to attend the school board meeting, with public comment beginning at 3:30pm and employee comment beginning at 6:00pm. Speakers are allotted 3 minutes to speak to the board, and you must sign up 15 minutes before public or employee comment.
We realize many employees cannot arrive by 3:30pm or be present at 6:00pm. If you cannot attend the board meeting, please come to the demonstration from 9-11am.
(Wear REDforED or BLUE for our HCPS Custodians)
