Thank you for your activism & support during the 2018 midterm elections! National, state & local labor unions came together to work towards electing public education friendly candidates and passing important referendums for public schools all over the nation, and Hillsborough county is no exception!
The 1/2 penny sales tax referendum to Strengthen Our Schools passed! Funds will be coming into the district to repair/replace air conditioners, roofs, etc. beginning in February 2019.
You can visit the HCPS website to find out more information about how the funds will be used and the detailed plans the district has. Your HSEF leaders will continue to work with district leadership to ensure projects & work assignments follow contract and our members rights are protected. Find out more here!
Endorsed candidates in other races were a mixed bag—some wins and some losses. As a reminder endorsements by our State & local affiliates are non-partisan. Endorsements of candidates are made based on their stance on public education & labor issues. This is who we are: A union of professional public school employees!
Every election matters! The next election will be the 2019 City of Tampa Election to be held in March 2019. Even if you aren’t eligible to vote in the City of Tampa, it is
important to register yourself now for the 2020 election cycle. The right to vote is one of the most fundamental liberties we enjoy as Americans, and it is also one of our greatest civic responsibilities. We encourage you to register & vote in every election!
